FAQ

Frequently asked questions about pricing

No, the public beta is open to everyone, and we encourage broad participation. If you find the program useful and wish to support its development, preordering a license is a meaningful way to contribute.

For Essential and Team licenses, the 1-year update period begins once the official v1 is released (after the beta concludes).

A perpetual license allows you to use the program indefinitely after purchase.

For Essential and Team licenses, after the included 1-year update period ends, you can continue using the latest version available at the time your updates expire, but you won’t receive further updates unless you renew.

For Pro and Team Pro licenses, updates are included for as long as development continues, covering all future versions without needing additional purchases.

Yes, Essential and Pro licenses can be used for commercial work. They are tied to the specific person who owns the license, regardless of whether it was purchased with personal or company funds. If an employee leaves the company, their license remains theirs and cannot be transferred to another person.

For businesses needing transferable licenses, the Team and Team Pro licenses allow up to 10 employees and can be reassigned within the organization.

Yes, all licenses allow a single user to install the program on multiple devices. For business licenses, this applies to each of the up to 10 employees. This also includes different operating systems once File Pilot adds support for them.

Beyond lifetime updates, Pro and Team Pro include access to a VIP Discord channel and priority support. This means direct access to the developer with responses within one business day and prioritization of your critical bugs or crashes.

When compared to the monthly subscriptions many products require today, the Essential and Team licenses offer great value, equating to just a few dollars a month per user or employee.

All licenses include all features, and you get to keep the program even after updates expire. The Pro and Team Pro licenses offer lifetime updates, potentially spanning decades.

Additionally, licenses are per user or employee, meaning they can be used across multiple devices and operating systems, making this an excellent long-term investment.
